	Comment	Top: Construction of an underpass on Harrogate Road. This was to enable a runway extension for Leeds Bradford Airport to go from the airport, over Harrogate Road and into the fields on the left. This route took the runway past the northern end of Yeadon Dam (Tarn), it is now an added attraction to watch the planes coming and going when visiting the Dam. This view is looking in the direction of Pool-in- Wharfedale, several construction vehicles are at work including a road roller. Bottom: Work is taking place to build an underpass on Harrogate Road. This was done in conjunction with a runway extension for Leeds Bradford Airport. The underpass is approached from a roundabout at the junction of Warren House Lane, Harrogate Road and Whitehouse Lane which leads to the airport. The view looks in the direction of Yeadon, the airport is to the left. A bus in the red livery of the West Yorkshire Road Car Co. is travelling towards the camera.

The website quoted here is a FlickR website where I have posted most of my pics taken at Yeadon Airport in my school and University holidays from 1958 to around 1967, when I then moved South to get a job! The Yeadon scenes album with the 584 pics is the one showing general scenes round the airport then: some were used in the airport handbooks of the time. From 64 to 67 I worked at the airport as a porter/baggage loader on the Dakotas and Avro748s and Viscounts of BKS and others, and kept my camera in the fire truck. You can identify the other old pics, they are the black and white albums, of hundreds of aeroplanes seen at Yeadon!
Stripey was my nickname amongst the other "Spotters" at the airport, because of the red and black striped school jacket from Leeds Modern School.
