It was Jack Batty's shop and stood where the disabled car parking space is in the Princess car park, my grandfather was also a cobbler and friends with him.

This was my father’s cobblers shop he was there from early 30s until the late 60s. He trained as a shoemaker and made me two pairs of sandals when I was a teenager. I remember George King when I was a child calling at the shop when he went to his allotment and he would send me some yellow tomatoes that he had grown

Many hanks for the information Ann, fantastic news. I shall forward your information on to our archivists and I will update the website photo this week. Could you confirm the the Cobblers was owned by 'Jack Batty' by sending me an email to: coverpage@btinternet.com together with any additional information or memories you could offer to the accompany the website photo and or any other photos of the shop and of course of your father. It would certainly enhance its page for historical interest. Thanking you in anticipation. Kind Regards, Jack Brayshaw. AHS.
