A photo taken along the highway in Toronto by Mrs J M
Glanville in the summer of 2016.
Joseph Cawthra was once owner of the Old Dog
Mill, his business floundered following a dispute with his neighbours who objected
to him altering the course of the town's water and bankruptcy followed.
He emigrated
with his large family to Canada in 1803.
He was granted land in Mississauga
where he, his children and descendants prospered, becoming influential in the
Toronto area.
A school, park and roads were given the name Cawthra after the
family.
