Son of John Marshall Barwick of Low Hall and Jane daughter of George Smith, Banker of Allerton Hall Gledhow.
Descended from John Marshall who died at Low Hall  in 1786 and whose wife Julia Grosvenor was directly descended from the Calverleys of Calverley who trace their descent back to the 10th century.
Born Blenheim Terrace, Leeds July 1846.
Educated at Repton, Leeds Grammar School and St Johns College Oxford, MA Oxon.
Solicitor admitted 1872.
Married April 29th 1873 Emily Taylor daughter of William Evans Glyde of Moor Head Shipley.
Two sons, Two daughters.

I remember the Barwicks of Low Hall,
mainly because Low Hall was turned into a recovery unit for wounded RAF personnel in 1940.
Of Course, as Lord of the Manor, we never made his acquaintance,
although Sheila and I would sing carols there on Boxing Day, and be given summat,
dunno what now.
He sent his gamekeeper with a wheelbarrow full of rabbits,
two for each house up Gill Lane.for Xmas.

We could trespass, as boys, by going through the tunnel
that takes the Gill under Gill Lane, and it runs on Low Hall property,
down to the old mill and Stone Top farm, and into the Aire from there.
