A brewery owned this cottage, it was the home of the Barrett family, Mrs Barrett ran a drapers shop in the front room, here she is with a display of goods in her window.
Out of view on the right is the Red Lion Inn.

My maternal Grandfather was from Guiseley and he was Arthur James Barrett. He pegged out around 1938 on the day my mother was due to marry. Must have been the excitement. She postponed the wedding for a week and then my dad was allowed two hours off work on Saturday afternoon to get married, after which he returned to work. They lived on Cross Street which is opposite Cooper on Otley Road. This isn't my grandmother however.
