"Proposed Amalgamation of Yeadon Football Clubs
A meeting of the committee of the three
football clubs which exist in Yeadon, The Cricket and Football Club, the White
Star and the St Lawrence, was held on Wednesday evening for the purpose of
considering a proposal which had been made for the amalgamation of the three
It is urged that if it were done Yeadon would
then be able to put a first rate team into the football field, instead of three
weak fifteens as at present and that consequently the township would then take
a higher position in the football world.
The idea was favourably entertained by the
combined committees and a resolution carried by 24 votes to 4 in favour of the
A full meeting of the members of the three clubs will now be held
and if these give their sanction to the scheme, as it is expected they will,
the amalgamation will take place immediately in order that arrangements may be
made for the season 1892/93.
It is suggested that the amalgamated club should
be distinct and altogether separate from the Yeadon Cricket Club".
