Rawden - Monday last being Whit Monday, the teachers
and scholars of Rawden Church Sunday Schools, accompanied by many of the
parents of the children and neighbours, availed themselves of an excursion on
the Leeds and Thirsk railway obtained for them by the exertions of the Rev. A
Ibbotson, incumbent and the kindness of the company, to Harrogate and back.
On arriving at Star Beck station they walked in procession,
in number nearly 200 to the schoolroom at Low Harrogate, which had been kindly
lent for the occasion by the incumbent and after partaking of lunch, great
numbers, accompanied by their worthy pastor, were kindly permitted to walk
through the pump-room, the promenade-room and grounds, also the Montpellier
grounds after which they sat down to an excellent tea, provided by the kind and
able supervision of Mrs Ibbotson and others and returning in the evening by a
special train, highly pleased and gratified.
The thanks of the party are due and are returned to the
Rev. Mr Digby, to the Rev. Mr Field, also to Mrs Forest of the White Hart and
others for their kindness and attention.
