                                               "Embezzlement

In the West Riding Magistrates Court on Monday last, before Joshua Pollard Esq. and Robert Milligan Esq. a man named Mawson  "a navvy" from Rawden was charged by Austin Dibb, a butcher of Idle, with stealing from his house on Christmas Day last, a petticoat and a table cover.

The prisoner was also charged with stealing from the premises of Mrs Hick, the George & Dragon Inn, Apperley Bridge, on the 14th inst, a horse sheet and a piece of sacking.

The prisoner had entered the premises of both of the prosecutors by the means of skeleton keys, a number of which were found by Mr Ingham, constable, when searching the prisoner's house on Friday the 19th inst.

The charges were fully proved against him and he was committed for trial at the next York Assizes".
