Knor & Spell (various spellings).

A match at Knor & Spell for £10 aside was played on Woodhouse Moor, Leeds, on Monday 1st between Henry Lee of Woodhouse and Timothy Ives of Guiseley.

There was a vast crowd of spectators, most of whom appeared to feel great interest in the game which was well contested throughout and was finally won by Lee who  got 263 score in 30 rises and his opponent 259.

Betting was about even at the commencement of the game but Lee appeared to be the favourite and towards it's close the odds were in his favour.

The following was the score, each number representing  the "score" yards obtained by each player at each of the 30 rises.

It will be observed that neither party missed a rise.

     Lee : 10  4  9  10  9  9  10  10  10  9  5  10 10  9  10  8  9  8  10  7     9  9  9  9  9  9  9
