"Petty Sessions - At the Court House on the 4th inst. before F Billam, F H Fawkes and

B Thompson Esqrs. , the following cases were heard :-

     The collector of the Otley bar of the Leeds and Otley Road charged John Bell, carrier, with evading the toll on the 21st of October. Fined 5s and costs.

     William Morby was summoned by Mary Thorpe of Burley to show cause why an order in bastardy should not be made on him for the maintenance of her illegitimate child. Order granted for 1s 6d per week and costs.

     William Dalby summoned by Elizabeth Flesher of Yeadon on a similar charge. Order granted for 1s 6d per week and costs.

      John Wood was summoned by Mary Pratt of Yeadon on a similar charge. Order granted for 1s 6d per week and costs.

      On the complaint of Mr Forster, inspector of weights and measures, the following shopkeepers were fined for having deficient weights :- 

Chas Lawson 1s and costs, Joseph Firth 4s and costs  and William Knapton 6d and costs"
