Ancient Shepherds of the Loyal Abel Lodge held their seventh anniversary at the
house of Mr C Popplewell at Guiseley, when members sat down to a most excellent
After the cloth was removed the doors
of the "Lodge" were thrown open for the admission of strangers, when
a number of the wives and sweethearts and others made their appearance
and contributed much to enliven the scene.
Several songs and duets were sung
during the evening by the Messrs. Hudson and Booth &c and the comic
entertainments of Mr Stead, of the Concert Rooms, Yeadon went off with great
eclat and the company retired highly gratified with the hilarity and good
feeling manifested on the occasion".
