Looking across Yeadon Cemetery to the 14 end of the runway, Jet2 Flight 389 is departing for Funchal, Madeira with Senior First Officer Richard Chadwick in the right hand seat.

The plane is a Boeing 737-800 regn. G-GDF2.

The photographer is Kelly Chadwick, Richard's wife.

10th February 2016: 609 (West Riding) Squadron celebrated the 80th anniversary of the squadron, Royal Auxiliary Air Force.

It was formed on the site of the airport on February 10th 1936 as a bomber squadron, during WW2 it acted as a fighter squadron.

It is now based at RAF Leeming where it acts in Force Protection.

     For the anniversary guests included the Lord Mayor of Leeds, the Lord Mayor of Bradford and Greg Mulholland MP, serving and retired members of the squadron.

They enjoyed a vintage afternoon tea then watched a low level fly past of 4 Hawk Aircraft from RAF Leeming.

8th December 2016: An RAF Tornado aircraft seen at the airport, this was a "touch & go "  landing used by pilots to test the aircraft instrument landing system (ILS), that is the plane touched down briefly under instrument control but did not land.
